Scalise, as a member of the Louisiana House of Representatives, voted “Nay” on an amendment that made exceptions to Louisiana’s abortion ban in the instances of rape or incest on May 31, 2006. According to NBC News, “Originally, the bill would have allowed abortions only to save the life of the mother, with no exceptions in cases of rape or incest.
